why do some divers (scuba) get in the water feet first while other get in going backwards head first?
whats the difference?
There are several different entry methods used depending on the circumstances.
New divers are taught Giant Stride because it’s a good general purpose entry method and it’s easy to control equipment (less likely to lose a mask for instance).
Some boat owners require divers to do a Giant Stride off the platform rather than a Roll Back entry because of the risk of banging the boat hull with the tank.
On the other hand, a Roll Back is the only way to get into the water from a Zodiak.
When I dive in the Aquarium, we do a Seated Side Entry so as not to make a big splash and injure the fish.
